The Numerous Effects Of Global Warming On The Environment

Many people have heard about the effects of global warming on the environment.

While there are still some people that do not have the hard facts, many more are beginning to really look at global warming. This can open up a new way for people to come together and really begin looking at ways to combat this troubling problem.

You do not have to look far to see the effects that global warming is having possibly where you live. Floods, hurricanes and many other disasters are beginning to occur at very odd times.

This has caused alarm in the scientific community and there is real data out there suggesting that many of the natural upheavals are direct effects of the global warming phenomenon.

Agricultural is one area that is affected by global warming and this is one area people should not ignore. If agricultural is affected, the food supply could be affected and this is something that could have devastating consequences.

If the climate is unstable, it makes it very hard to for farmers to predict crops and this is something that can cause instability in the agricultural world.

The effects of global warming are something that is cause for a deeper look by everyone. It is not just up to scientists to monitor these conditions and this is something that each individual needs to keep a closer eye on.

If we sit back and do nothing we could make it very hard for future generations. We do not want out generations to be plagued by the fact that we have done nothing and you can start living today for the future.

Children And Global Warming Are An Important Combination

There are many causes of global warming that are very scientific and explaining this to children can be difficult.

Children and global warming is something that is a very important combination for our future. If children do not understand the effects of global warming, they will not be prepared to combat this problem in the future and this can have some very serious consequences.

You need to explain it to children in a way that they can fully understand. This should be age appropriate so that a child will understand it at their age level.

If you are trying to explain something that is too advanced, the entire meaning of the discussion may be lost. There may be some great resources out there to help parents explain this to a child and a book or something designed just for children may be a wonderful tool.

You do not want to frighten a child when you are speaking to them about global warming. While there can be some very devastating consequences to global warming, you will not want to explain the most scary details to a child. You still need to highlight how important it is to the environment, but scaring a child is unnecessary and will not provide the desired results.

Children and global warming require special considerations. Each child should be aware of what the future holds, but there are limits on the information that you share. A child can often interpret things very differently than an adult and you should be clear and concise and make sure all questions are answered.

Factors Contributing To Global Warming

Global warming is defined as rise in the average temperature of Earth, surface air and oceans. According to the studies conducted, it has been explained that the Earth's temperature has risen by nearly 1 degree Fahrenheit in the last 100 years. It is one of the major environmental problems today. If this situation continues, then many adverse effects may take place on earth.

Causes Of Global Warming:

Global warming can be caused due to natural calamities or human activities. Natural causes of global warming include bursting of sunspots, solar output variations, volcanic explosions and changes in the Earth's orbit. Human activities, which increase green house gases, including burning of solid waste, wood, and fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas and coal, and deforestation. Release of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) from industrial processes generates more heat than normal and gets trapped in the atmosphere resulting in global warming.

The main gases contributing to this are carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane, and nitrous oxide. These gases are largely produced by thermal power plants that burn the fossil fuels, road vehicles, and industries. Another cause is deforestation, which is caused by cutting and burning of forests for building houses and industries.

Effects Of Global Warming:

Global warming produces several effects, ranging from the effects on atmosphere, economy, and environment and also on health of human beings.

•Due to this, there is an increase in average earth surface temperature, which resulted in the melting of polar ice. Continuous melting down of glaciers can lead to floods and other natural calamities. More increase in temperature may melt the ice and results in the increase of sea level, which will submerge and immerse low lying countries and coastal areas.
•It also affected animal kingdom and some animals become extinct due to loss of their natural habitat or failure to get adapted to the rapid changes in the climate. Animals' lifestyles have changed due to changes in seasons and migrating birds changed their time of travel and also location of migration.
•Global warming also affected seasons, as there is change in season cycle, the summers are getting prolonged than the winters.
•It is quite responsible for the initiation of some new diseases. This is because, bacteria are very capable and multiply rapidly in warmer temperatures compared to cold temperatures. The increase in temperature has resulted in the increase of microbes, which cause diseases.
•Global warming is also responsible for variation in crop production, because crops are getting destroyed due to sudden change in temperatures or sudden attack of rains. Flash floods and other natural disasters also influence the crop production.
•As a result of it, the earth's atmosphere is gradually becoming unstable. This is because of heavy rains in the places where there is very less rainfall and drought in the places where there is good annual rainfall. There is also change in months of rainfall.
•Effects of global warming, such as decreased snow level, increased temperature and other weather changes will not only influence humans but also affect complete ecosystems. These changes in ecosystem may lead to extinction of species. Another consequence is Glacier retreat, which means deterioration of glaciers. This may lead to flash floods, landslides and glacier lake overflow.
•Due to this, people may suffer from infectious, vector-borne diseases like malaria and food shortages.
•Due to global warming oceans will become significantly more acidic as more carbon dioxide is trapped into water and temperature of ocean increases. This may lead to extinction of ocean animals and plants and cause hurricanes and storms.
•The polar ice caps are melted which is fresh water and when it is submerged in sea, the salinity of ocean is disturbed and causes imbalance in ocean currents.

Global warming can cause heat strokes, cardiovascular, and respiratory problems. An efficient way to reduce emission of green house gases into atmosphere is to encourage public to use renewable energy sources and conserve energy to possible extent. More advanced technologies must be developed in order to build cleaner cars and improved way to generate electricity. These methods help in minimizing global warming and also to save energy for future generations.

Dreadful Effects Of Global Warming

There are some effects of global warming that you can see, and there are others that you cannot. Looking at these effects can help you to understand the capacity of global warming. When you begin to look at the scientific proof, it can be hard to dispel.

One of the more noticeable things that global warming is causing is freak weather patterns. There is cold weather where there normally is not.

There are also more natural disasters than ever occurring. This is something that cannot be ignored. All it takes is to look at any national news program and you will see the results of the weather patterns.

Another effect that many people cannot see with their own eyes is the rising sea levels. Some people may try to dispute this, but there is data that coincides with this that is purely scientific and there is no motivation behind this other than science.

Rising sea levels can be very dramatic and there is more and more flooding occurring due to this factor. The ice caps are melting contributing to this factor and there are wildlife that may be completely wiped out due to the sea levels.

There are many other effects of global warming and knowing what is happening in the world can help you to make better decisions. Change does not happen overnight and gaining knowledge can help each person to make the necessary changes to protect future generations. This is not something we can stop completely, but something we can slow and this should be where our intentions are focused.

Can We Stop Global Warming? The Answer Is Surprising

Can we stop global warming? This is a rather difficult question that many people ask.

Global warming is something that has been a concern for years, but it is now just coming to public attention. With big names making information available about global warming has helped, there needs to be much more resolve to begin looking at the future and not just tomorrow.

While it may not be possible to fully stop it, there are many ways to slow this process down.

Consumption is the biggest issue and as people continue to consume a large amount of fuel and this result in production of carbon monoxide and other poisons that pollute our environment each day. If people simply cut back on what they consume, it can have a positive effect on the pace of it.

There is not much education in schools or other places. Education needs to become a top priority and even children need to have this education in their school setting.

The future depends on what we teach our children and the education about global warming has been seriously lacking. Funding may be the issue, or lack of education by teachers may be another issue.

Can we stop global warming? This question has a complicated answer and it may not be as easy as you think.

Global warming is something that we will likely always have to deal with and this should be incorporated into our new way of life. It starts with education and than people can make their own decisions about how they are going to combat this problem.

How Will Global Warming Change Our Environment?

When Al Gore and other scientists won for the Nobel Prize, the public were not so much surprised. The topic on global warming has always been a threat to the world as it faces the negative effects of an industrialized world. What Gore and his colleagues had done is to show artistically and scientifically the effects of global warming and how it affects climactic patterns and the overall patterns of the earth. Although the presentation is computer generated simulations, the impact is now being felt globally.

The reports are true. Global warming is a threat even to our children's grandchildren. Worse is, the next generation would suffer heavily from the wanton destruction that we had done to contribute global warming. Thus, countries all over the world talk about possible solutions in this phenomenon. In the U.S, the US Climate Policy created an order which consisted of three parts namely: slowing the growth of emissions, strengthening the development of science and research studies and Enhancing international cooperation.

The authorities believed that a high percentage of carbon emission does not come from vehicles but in the electric power plants which use fossil fuels to operate turbines that provide electricity in millions of US citizens. We are not aware of it but we are great contributors of global warming because our appliances at home are all powered by electricity. Moreover, some of our appliances like our air-conditioners and refrigerators also emit chlorofluorocarbons that clog the ozone layer thus creating global warming.

The US government has also established policies for states observed to have the heaviest carbon concentration in the atmosphere. Some of the places include California, Florida, Hawaii, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, and Washington. The Senate is also passing a number of bills for global warming, possibly the strict implementation of the anti-belching act and the introduction of biofuels in the market.

The study of global warming is not only for scientists, Nobel Prize winners and politicians who theorized ways to prevent our worsening conditions. One just have to stay at least ten minutes outdoors, smell the fumes from the vehicles and feel the uneasy heat of the surroundings. It should not also take eons to solve this problem before we can say that the earth has retaliated after all the bad things that we have done to it. What we are experiencing now is the living testimony to the correctness of the facts presented in Al Gore's documentary.

Global Warming, Climate Change, Now Global Weirding

I don't know about you, but I'm getting tired of the Global Warming 'argument'. It seems increasingly like the whole deal has been a scare tactic design to get money to research scientists, rather than a legitimate scientific conclusion. Seriously, my 'meteorologist' can't even tell me if what tomorrow's weather is going to be; and I'm supposed to believe these people when they tell me that climate change is both true and man-made? Did any of these brilliant minds predict the winter we've had here in the United States?

Now they tell us that, yes, of course, this 'weird' winter is a symptom of climate change. (Even though the fact is that there is nothing weird about this winter at all-it all falls within the standard variation.)

I guess the year without a summer, 1815 or thereabouts, was also a symptom of climate change, too. Or the fact that Greenland was once green.

Another interesting tidbit: if you live in Florida, you probably realize that you are living on huge coral reef. Much of the Yucatan peninsula is also coral reef, meaning that at one time huge swaths of now inhabitable land were once underwater. This can only be explained by the fact that the earth must have been much warmer at one time, which caused the seas to be much higher than they are now. Then global cooling occurred, and the waters receded.

And then there's Atlantis...perhaps it was another warming period, with its rising seas, that caused this legendary civilization to disappear.

In point of fact, climatologists admit there was a 'mini ice age' that lasted from 16th to the 19th Centuries. Is it me, or isn't normal to expect that after an ice age you would expect temperatures to warm up again. Perhaps 'global warming' is nothing but a move back to 'normal' temperatures-not that you can say such a thing exists.

What do you think the real explanation of global warming is? I would like to offer that implicit in the climate change argument is fear. No, not fear of an overheated planet, but fear of something else, much deeper.

Hidden in the climate change argument is that man is in control. Man broke it, so man can fix it.

But this actually masks the deep fear that man is NOT in control. Mankind fears what it cannot control, and man's ego is such that he wishes to cede control to nothing, not even nature. Mankind cannot bear to admit that there is something beyond its control, it is far too painful, and thus even the weather MUST be his 'fault'. Thus we have a climate change argument, climate change 'science' and global warming. But never, ever, 'this is simply nature and there's nothing we can do about it."

If climate change is really man-made, then man is in control. The climate change argument, thus, serves mostly to assuage one of man's deeper fears, that there are things beyond his control. But we are not.

Nature works in cycles. Climate change is natural. The climate will continue to change, getting warmer, getting colder, whether we like it or not. We are not so all-powerful that we can control the weather.

Let it go and enjoy it.

Global Warming - Significantly Ruining Our Earth's Health

Maybe one of the most often discussed subject matters in an elementary Science class, in the earlier times and now, is global warming in relation to a broader topic, namely ozone level diminution. The central idea is that universal heating is a cause for the depletion of one of the Earth's essential levels, which is the ozone layer.

While this entire thought looked to be too much for a kid to comprehend before, it might not anymore be true today when Mother Nature herself has begun to take the part of an educator, ready with solid examples, in demonstrating to the whole universe what the concept actually means.

All the same, to make matters clearer for everybody, global heating is the rise in the Earth's marginal heat, in both land mass and sea. This is caused by many factors, all of which mainly lead to human intervention. Firstly, global warming is caused by the emanation and buildup of several pollutants and noxious chemicals - the by-product of human conducts - into the atmosphere. Secondly, global heating is triggered by immense deforestation of loggers. In the absence of these foliage and trees, people lack agents that help regulate and produce clean air. Thirdly, universal heating is caused by mankind's extensive use of electronic gadgets that contribute to radioactive secretions.

In order for an individual to comprehend the significance of knowing what universal warming is and what causes it is for him to simply see or read the news. The persistent natural tragedies that human beings have been experiencing all over the earth are the explanations why individuals need to alarm themselves with global heating.

The human race should know that universal warming is the cause why glaciers have been melting. In turn, glacier meltdown is a factor towards the increase of sea levels ensuing in floods and erosion. In addition, universal heating is the raison d' etre why there have been sudden unexpected forest fires and droughts. Further, universal warming is the cause why animals have been leaving or becoming extinct because of alterations in their natural residence. Finally, universal heating justifies why human lives have been lost and properties destroyed. Notwithstanding these, some might still assert that global heating is a slow process so it could not be happening yet at this moment. This is certainly true. However, people are told again that the thought is anything but novel and the process has previously begun several years before.

Kyoto Protocol Mechanism To Combat Global Warming

As described in Article 2 of the UNFCCC:

The ultimate objective of this Convention and any related legal instruments that the Conference of the Parties may adopt is to achieve, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Convention, stabilization of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system. Such a level should be achieved within a period sufficient to allow ecosystems to adapt naturally to climate change, to ensure that food production is not threatened and to enable economic development to proceed in a sustainable manner.

The Kyoto Protocol establishes three market-based mechanisms which are International Emission Trading (IET), Joint Implementation (JI) and the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). These mechanisms allow international cooperation in the global warming mitigation efforts as well as creating what is known as carbon market.

Kyoto protocol divides countries that ratify the protocol into two. The first one is Annex 1 countries, which consist of industrialized and economies in transition countries such as European Union countries such as Spain, Sweden, France, Netherlands, Italy, UK, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Ex-Soviet Union and Eastern European, and countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech, etc, and other countries such as Norway, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, etc

The second group is Annex II countries which are developing countries that have signed the Kyoto Protocol such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Vietnam, etc.

Under IET Annex I countries can trade allocated greenhouse gas unit between themselves. IET is a mechanism that reduces the emission by trying to emit less green house gas to the atmosphere. The problem with this is that the only way to reduce the emission is by investing in mostly new technology which can be prohibitively expensive, or by reducing production both of which will inevitably increase the price to the end users. The tradeable greenhouse unit are called ER or Emission Reduction under IET.

JI and CDM on the other hand known as project based mechanism. It means that the reduction achieved by JI and CDM are trough actually capturing greenhouse gas in one part of the world to compensate for pollution in other part of the world. The different with JI is that JI projects are built in another Annex I countries while CDM projects are built in Annex 2 countries. The greenhouse gas unit under JI is known as Emission Reduction Units (ERUs) and under CDM is known as Certified Emission Reduction (CERs).

Each of these greenhouse units represents one tonne of CO2e in reduced emission.

Each element of the UNFCCC and Kyoto is designed to assist in meeting the Article 2 Objective of the UNFCCC. This objective is long-term.

As can be seen above. the Clean Development Mechanism is the only provision of Kyoto that has immediate benefits for both Annex I and Non-Annex I countries. Annex I countries benefit by receiving credit for emissions reductions at a lower cost than may be possible domestically or in other Annex 1 countries and Non-Annex I countries benefit from the increased economic activity generated from the projects as well as a significant transfer of technology and project management expertise.

The CDM is therefore widely embraced by both developed and developing countries. CDM has become the most tangible outcome of the Kyoto Protocol with over 4,000 projects being submitted for validation as at year-end 2009 representing, in theory, over 7 billion tonnes of emission reductions through 2020.

Global Warming Debate - The Natural Oxygen-Carbon Dioxide Balance

A natural balance has been taking place as long as there has been life on this planet: oxygen and carbon dioxide have been in a natural balance in earth's atmosphere all this time!

More specifically, humans and animals inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. Plant life, on the other hand, uses carbon dioxide in the photosynthesis reaction for plant growth. A by-product of this reaction is gaseous oxygen. So the human and animal kingdoms have been in a balance with the plant kingdom on earth. Each uses a product produced by the other. Humans and animals also use plant products for food, and the plants use human and animal wastes for food.

Current theories suggest that fossil fuels, like coal and natural gas, are the results of decaying, as well as decayed and compacted plant life. There are enormous tonnages of coal reserves on earth -- all of which came from vast quantities of once green vegetation. Somehow, all such vegetation died and was compacted into forms that over the years turned into the various types of peat and coals we mine today.

Now -- think about it. From where did all the carbon in these fossil fuels come? If green vegetation is the actual source of coals, then the vegetation got its carbon from gaseous carbon dioxide. Since the numbers of humans and animals was probably much lower in days past than current populations, one might consider that the earth's atmosphere once contained higher levels of carbon dioxide, which was converted to plants, and ultimately into the coal products we are burning today. For that reason, the carbon dioxide released by the burning of today's fossil fuels is simply a return of that carbon source to the atmosphere from whence it once came. Atmospheric carbon dioxide in days long gone by, converted to large volumes of vegetation, which was compacted, condensed, and buried to form peats and coals, which are mined and burned in power plants today, is returned to atmospheric carbon dioxide once again. From atmospheric carbon dioxide to atmospheric carbon dioxide -- the cycle is complete.

Another aspect of this cycle is that vegetation is used for food for humans and animals. Fruits, vegetables, and grains are the results of the growth of plants. So as the population of humans and animals grows, one would hope that the volume of plant life would remain in proper proportion so plants can convert carbon dioxide to oxygen as they grow abundantly. And the humans and animals, in turn, will continue to grow in numbers so they can convert the vast quantities of oxygen from the plant life into carbon dioxide for use by the plants. This is a natural balance that appears to have been set up by the Creator God. The idea that such a balance, according to evolutionary theory, is the result of chance is baloney!

There are currently more people living on earth than ever before in the history of the earth. Earth's current human population is almost 7 billion people. The population of animal life is proportionally large. To feed this many people and animals, the plant kingdom also needs to be abundant. Fortunately, we know that as the carbon dioxide content of the atmosphere doubles and as the average temperature of the earth increases just a little bit, both will increase the growth rates of plants. More carbon dioxide in the atmosphere means faster plant growth and more food for the human and animal kingdoms, which is good. We are currently feeding more people with fewer cultivated acres of land than ever before in the history of the earth. All is proceeding well, and this natural balance of people, animals, carbon dioxide, plants, and oxygen is continuing in relative proportion as designed.

But now enter arrogant mankind, who thinks he knows better than nature and the God of creation. Mankind is planning to cut back on carbon emissions in order to prevent global warming. Global warming appears to be a hoax, which the intelligentsia want to use in order to transfer vast quantities of wealth from rich countries like the United States to poor third-world countries. In this arrogant push to remove carbon dioxide from waste gas streams to prevent global warming (which has not been proven to even exist), they are going to remove carbon dioxide from waste gas streams which will hinder the growth of plants which are in this natural balance with humans and animals.

This author fears that in mankind's arrogance, they will do damage to this natural oxygen/carbon dioxide balance and to the growth and supply of food which feeds the world, in the name of global warming --which is really a cover for other political shenanigans.

Fortunately, this author believes God is in control of the daily functioning of the earth and all that reside thereon. Mankind can play their games, but God will continue to balance out the supplies of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, regardless of what man does to the current levels.

Have you noticed -- the environmentalists have fits when the logging industries clear cut regions of forest. Nothing much is said about the fact that logging companies replant those regions so trees will once again grow. Logging companies cannot continue to function if all forests are cut down and nothing replaces them -- it is in their best interest to replant regions they have harvested --so in years to come, forests will once again occupy those lands.

Many get upset when companies try to clean up the underbrush in our forests. This destroys animal habitats, which is bad (according to animal rights activists). But uncontrolled underbrush encourages wild fires which destroy millions of acres of forests and many residential communities annually. Wild fires destroy trees, which could have been harvested to produce tons of lumber, underbrush, houses, wildlife, etc., and send enormous quantities of carbon dioxide and heat into the atmosphere.

There are lots of natural cycles and balances on this earth that man can control (logging and underbrush cleanup, for example) but when they aren't allowed to participate in those cycles, natural processes like wild fires do the job for them. Hardly anyone gets upset when a whole region is clear-burnt (as opposed to clear-cut) except for the loss of the residential housing that went up in flames along with the natural plant and wild life.

The earth is resilient enough to handle enormous forest fires, heat, and vast quantities of carbon dioxide turned loose into the atmosphere from power plants. The earth is resilient enough to handle volcanic eruptions and the heat, ash, and gases blown into the atmosphere. The earth is resilient enough to handle the destruction and decay caused by enormous tidal waves, tornadoes, and hurricanes across the planet. God can handle it with this earth, and all its natural balances, that have been designed into its self-controlling weather systems. And when things appear to be running out of control, God Himself can step in to right imbalances and fix inequities.

It appears, to this author, that mankind should be paying better attention to the big picture regarding natural balances that are functioning on this planet. It seems like the height of arrogance that the US Supreme Court should declare carbon dioxide a waste gas that should be controlled by the Environmental Protection Agency. It appears to be more arrogance that we are planning to "sequester," that is, remove, carbon dioxide from the waste streams of our plants in order to prevent a phenomenon that has not been proven (global warming.) It appears to be even more arrogance that suggested solutions for a hoax phenomenon will adversely impact natural balances that have been ongoing for years and years (the oxygen/carbon dioxide balance and the human/animal/plant life balances.)

Governments should govern and not stick their noses into areas like this that have been running smoothly on automatic for years and years.
